Kurt Loosli

I received my first camera at fourteen, and since then I have been looking for moments—unposed, fragile, and telling. My path began in the darkroom with black-and-white film, continued with a beloved Nikon FE, and still lives today through the Z8 and Zf. The tools changed, but the curiosity never did.

During my physics studies at ETH Zürich, I dedicated an additional year to photography. It became a counterbalance to analytical thinking—an invitation to observe people not through theories, but through light, expression, and silence. Over time, I refined my craft independently, allowing intuition and experimentation to shape my visual language.

In 2023, professional training at Foto Zb in Baden helped me focus on what I value most: authentic portraits and documentary-style work that captures people in real environments—at work, in motion, or simply in a moment of genuine presence.

My approach is calm, attentive, and collaborative. I try to create a space where people feel recognised and comfortable, so their story can unfold naturally. I do not search for perfect poses; I look for honest encounters.

To look for moments is both my method and my motivation—an ongoing exploration of what makes us human.
